Si View Metro Parks has completed the purchase of 28 acres of open space in North Bend for a future public park through the Capital Bond proceeds. Located on 436th Avenue SE just off exit 32, this property offers tremendous potential for both active and passive recreational uses.
Si View Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution naming the property South Fork Landing at their June 19, 2019 meeting. The name takes root from the proximity of south fork of Snoqualmie River and the potential for future river access.
The master planning process for South Fork Landing is now in its early stages with land use planning research to be completed by project consultant Berger Partnership. Stakeholder input will follow this summer and first public meetings for a visioning exercise are planned for September. This is an exciting opportunity for the public to bring forth ideas for desired recreational uses and see your Capital Bond dollars at work. The master plan process will be completed by the end of this year.
In the interim, the space is open as an informal park for public to use from 7AM to dusk. Please note that all Si View Metro Parks rules apply, including keeping pets leashed. A local concessionaire is operating the General Store 7AM-7PM daily. When visiting the park, please be respectful of the parking reserved for Riverbend Café, which is not part of the public park property.
A number of temporary activities are scheduled at the park while the master planning effort is in progress. These include a temporary soon to be installed 18-hole public frisbee golf course, and a home base at the old Pro Shop for Si View’s teen summer camp program (TRACs). Some space near the pond has been leased to a concessionaire with temporary glamping units that are available for overnight rental. Information about the availability of these units is available online. A popular local community event DoggieStock benefiting Valley Animal Partners, is also scheduled at South Fork Landing on Saturday September 7th.
