Outdoor Climbing

North Bend is a popular destination for outdoor climbers with a great variety of climbing options from bolted sports climbs to bouldering within just a few minutes of town. In addition, the Torguson Park outdoor climbing wall is an excellent place to practice basic skills. The 31-foot structure includes some overhang areas and an arch with eight climbing routes of varied difficulty levels.

Torguson Climbing Wall Repairs

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the amazing community volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves and made a big impact on our parks this year! At Torguson Park, the climbing wall has been completely refreshed and is ready for new adventures! Over the summer, volunteers contributed 183 hours to remove and replace handholds, resulting in a dramatic transformation. They installed a total of 450 new handhold back plates, removed nearly all old glue- in bolts, and installed 200 new handholds.

The updated wall now features bouldering routes around the entire structure, and newly set full-height routes on all wall faces, with a focus on creating an inclusive space for climbers of all abilities. If you haven’t been by lately—now's the perfect time to check it out!

At Tennant Trailhead, volunteers cleared loose rocks and branches, cleaned out drainage areas in preparation for the rainy season, and trimmed back overgrowth along the upper trails. Meanwhile, at the Torguson Park Pump Track, kids pitched in by raking pinecones, picking up trash, and clearing debris, while adults tackled weeding, drainage maintenance, and reshaping berms. Volunteer efforts like these are essential to keeping our bike trails safe, fun, and rideable year-round. It's inspiring to see people giving back to the community parks. Efforts like this keep our park and trail systems safe, beautiful, and ready for adventure. We are so grateful for your commitment to making our shared spaces better for all.
