In this creative arts class, students will learn about the 7 elements of art while exploring a variety of art media – including acrylic and watercolor paints, oil pastels, and clay. Designed for new and returning students of different ages and abilities, young artists will learn techniques and gain new skills to create unique and expressive works of art. There might even be some fun homework! No previous art experience necessary. Class fee includes all child-friendly materials and kiln-firing of clay projects. Creating art can be messy – please have your artist dress appropriately!
Welcome to the world of Lego robotics. Students will use LEGO Education's WeDo robotics system for budding engineers to explore the different aspects of robotics and programming through several fun and easy builds. Students will be programming their robots to do numerous tasks. Spinning tops, drumming monkeys, and snapping crocodiles are just a few of our fun builds.
Introductory drama class, where we'll work together to perform a 30-minute adaptation of a popular musical. Performance for family and friends during the final class.
The class is tailored to the ability of the students so any skill level is welcome. A typical class begins with a relaxed practice game to warm up. We then go on to a focused lesson that will build on lessons throughout the session. This can include basic opening strategies, tactics, and many of the major checkmate patterns. Then, depending on the week, students practice what they have been learning with games against their peers, play fun variant chess games, solve puzzles, or practice their checkmate patterns. Sportsmanship is stressed throughout.

Spanish students will learn basic conversational skills, practice counting, learn the days of the week and months of the year, and work on basic vocabulary. We will gather for a fun session that includes a light healthy snack, such as chips and salsa, or Spanish chocolate, to practice basic table conversations in Spanish. Heritage speaking students are encouraged to join us to practice working on reading and writing skills in Spanish. We will play games, read books, learn songs, and make crafts.
