Si View’s Dance Program offers a high level of professional instruction with a strong emphasis on technique, fitness and fun. Each student receives individual attention, initiating the joy and appreciation of dance and music. We allow each student the freedom of creative expression in a nurturing and motivating environment designed to enhance self-esteem. Dance classes are taught by experienced instructors: Sara Werner, Cristie Coffing, Emmy Fansler, Amanda Csendes and Maiya Weinmaster.

Dance classes are formatted as limited viewing. Parents will be invited in to watch the week of April 24th. If you have a special guest in town or you just want to check in on the class, please talk with the instructor and they will do their best to accommodate you.
Parents: If you have any questions or concerns on the correct class for your child please don’t hesitate to call/email to ask. We are here to help and want everyone enrolled in the class that best suits their abilities.
Students enrolled in all dance classes are eligible to participate in our Spring recital tentatively scheduled on Saturday May 20th, with rehearsal and pictures scheduled for May 13th. Please note these are subject to change. A Recital Fee of $60/child/class (which includes costume) must be paid by cash or check (payable to Sara Werner) on the first day of class. If you can’t make the first day of class, please set up a time prior to classes starting to get measured and the fee paid. Please note that the final class is currently scheduled for the week of May 8th, if instructors feel an additional class is needed in preparation for the spring recital then an additional class will run on the week of May 15th.
Dancers will learn dancers to songs from the movie including Let It Go‚ Do You Want to Build a Snowman and Love is an Open Door. Students will be taught ballet technique, make Frozen themed crafts as well as sign, dance, and play like Elsa, Anna and Olaf. *$10 supply fee paid to instructor on first day of camp.
A fun and enriching intermediate level class that will combine contemporary and lyrical styles of dance, blending technique and choreography. *$10 supply fee paid to instructor on first day of camp.
Lunch hour is included if registering for both an AM and PM camp, if you are only registering for AM OR PM and want to stay the extra time, please register for the extended lunch hour!
Come dance to your favorite Disney tunes. This is a great class for boys and girls. During class time we will dance, sing, and play to many Disney greats. Learn the basic dance steps of jazz, hip hop, and ballet while moving your body to the beat, strengthen coordination and creativity. Come join the happy trolls for a week of summer fun. Adventure for all the little trolls as we dance to the fun songs from the movie. We will make crafts, new friends as we dance and create summer memories. This wild story of rainbows and fun will end with a showcase for parents on the last day as we present our adventurous troll story. *$10 supply fee paid to instructor on first day of camp.
Let your imagination soar as you twirl to classical ballet fairy tales. Students are taught basic ballet steps, and learn to tell the tale through dance. Students create and take home their own magical crafts. We will read stories such as Cinderella and Sleeping beauty and learn dances that will make each dancer feel like a princess! *$10 supply fee paid to instructor on first day of camp.
This camp for boys and girls will be fast paced and full of fun; your dancer will surly love what they learn! Students will explore ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, and modern dance. This camp is the perfect introduction to a variety of dance styles. Dancers will learn dances to songs from the movie Moana such as How Far I’ll Go‚ We Know The Way, and You’re Welcome. We will read stories about Moana’s adventures, make Hawaiian crafts, and learn ballet and jazz dance technique. *$10 supply fee paid to instructor on first day of camp.
A dream is a wish your heart makes and this class is every little girls dream. Come join this 4 week session of dancing, singing, playing, and reading all about princesses. We will read a different princess story each week as we dance, sing and twirl around. Please wear comfortable clothes or princess dress up if your princess wishes.
Si Crew is a new, inclusive multi-disciplined dance group focused on performance and expression for ages 8+. Si Crew will promote dance in the community by performing at local events and businesses year-round, so commitment is key!
Si View Dance Troupe — We will cast an exciting story in January 2018 for performance at our annual May Recital. We will collaborate on costumes and build a small set. We require for parent involvement with gathering costumes and making of our set and volunteering backstage the day of the show. This is an opportunity for our Si View dancers to partake in more performance and dance experiences.
Dance Troupe students are REQUIRED to participate in at least one technique class as well.
We will have multiple workshops throughout the 2016/2017 year. We will have special guest artists come join us to instruct a 1-2 hour workshop. This will be an intermediate to advanced level class. Si View dance program will fund the majority of this program as we would like to expose our dancers to new instructors and styles. Please note: dates/ times subject to change.
This is a great introduction to dance and theatre for both boys and girls. Learn the basic steps of jazz, hip hop and ballet while moving your body to the beat. Stretch your muscles and your imagination as you enjoy a class of fun and increase your creativity and coordination!
Come twirl and skip like a ballerina. This fun beginners class will offer the foundation for ballet. Students will learn ballet positions and build strength while making new friends dancing. Great for developing coordination and confidence.
These classes focus on the basic ballet vocabulary, emphasizing correct alignment. Barre-work, adagio and petite and grand allegro build strength and grace in a noncompetitive encouraging environment. Grace, style and ballet discipline will continue to be mastered.
Learn jazz steps and across the floor movements while developing a personal sense of artistic expression. For the more advanced students they will contribute to choreography and advance their performance skills.
Provides a great opportunity to explore a diversity of dance styles. Have fun experiencing the multiple disciplines of tap, ballet, jazz & hip hop. Please see the chart below for the different combinations of multiple disciplines in one class!
Students learn basic steps and terminology, build upon them to learn time steps, traveling rhythms, and syncopations. Noise, style and fun are the focus of this class.
This modern/lyrical class will focus on techniques from different modern masters, including Graham, Limon & Evans. Students will learn methods, choreography and improvisation while building their dance language and having fun!
More than just an advanced ballet class. In classical ballet when a dancer uses special shoes (called pointe shoes) to dance ‘en pointe’ (on their toes) they have reached a new level. This is for the serious intermediate/advanced student. Only those who are found qualified by the teacher can participate.
Hip Hop is a fun, popular style of dance for boys and girls. In this class we will be focusing on establishing a good body rhythm and learning basic to intermediate pop choreography. Students will start learning how to control spins, perform leaps and learn choreography to top 40 pop singles.
Ms. Sara lives in North Bend with her husband and 3 children. Sara has been building and nurturing the dance program at Si View over the past 7 years and enjoys watching her students grow as dancers and young children. Sara started dancing at the age of four and has stayed active in dance ever since. Sara is entering her 15th year of teaching youth dance in ballet, jazz, tap and musical theatre. She has also taught drama at the Village Theatre and worked for the City of Renton for 5 years teaching dance and drama. She has choreographed many youth musicals all over King and Snohomish counties. She has performed over the years in Seattle, San Diego, Los Angeles, and London.
Sara graduated with a bachelor's degree in Performing Arts from Evergreen State College and also studied at Cornish College of the Arts and San Diego State University. This school year Sara will be teaching at two area pre-schools bringing creative movement to class time. Sara is truly living out her dreams by working with young students and brings the joy of the arts into their lives.
Cristie Coffing earned her degree in Physical Education, Dance and English from Central Washington University, then attended Reed College. She has trained with such masters as; Armgard von Bardeleben, Pat Graney, Bill Evans, Leslie Watanabe, Penny Hutchinson, Greg Lizenberry, Shirley Jenkins, and Erica Angelakos. She has been performing since 1979 and teaching since 1984 and has danced professionally with Winnie Chapin Young & Co., Erica Angelakos & Associates, Mary Sheldon Scott and many independent choreographers. She has been seen on stage in various productions, including; Dancing at Lughnassa, Barefoot in the Park, Lie of the Mind, West Side Story, Dial M for Murder and Dracula.
She currently works with Theatre Black Dog and is Theatre Director of Reach for the Sky July while writing her own plays and novel. She continues to study ballet and tap and teach dance on the eastside. One of her joys has been teaching creative movement at the Mt. Si Montessori for the past 20 years. Dance, theatre, art, that’s all there is to it.
I am 17 years old and a senior at Mount Si High School. I am participating in the Running Start program at Bellevue College. I have been involved in the Si View Dance Program for 10 years. I enjoy dancing in the jazz, ballet and pointe classes. For the last four summers I have helped out with the dance summer camps. My hobbies include dancing, singing, reading and photography. I am looking forward to a fun season of dance!
Emmy Fansler: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Therapeutic Dance
Emmy Fansler teaches compassion, creativity, and communication through the art of dance. She has professionally performed and taught ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, salsa, partnering, and hip hop for the past ten years across the USA and Kenya, focusing on dance as a tool to break down barriers and build communities. Emmy has experienced first-hand the life changing effects of dance, and her gratitude shines brightly in her teaching style
Maiya Weinmaster: Hi! My name is Maiya Weinmaster. I am a sophomore attending Mount Si High School. Dance has been my passion since before I could walk, and I absolutely love it. I am very excited to begin teaching classes, as I have been helping out with summer camps over the past years. Other than being a dancer I am a writer, reader, hiker, skier, yogi, singer, thespian, and more! I love teaching and believe that spreading my love of dance will make the world a better place!
