Special Interest Classes
River Awareness and Safety
Learn about river safety and features of the river. Learn what eddies, tongues, strainers and holes are. Topics covered include: river hazards, hypothermia, identifying safer places on a river, “river position”, self-rescue and universally recognized river signals. Students will practice using throw ropes and how to assist others in a river emergency without endangering oneself. Instructor is a professional Whitewater Raft Guide and Whitewater Rescue Technician. Participants will not be in the water. Minimum age 10. Participants ages 10-14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Wilderness First Aid
This 19-hour outdoors course gives you the skills and confidence needed to respond to an emergency when help may be delayed. The course consists of practical exercises in an outdoor setting utilizing typical hiking supplies as tools for the most realistic experience. 2-year Wilderness First Aid certification American Red Cross is included. Course textbook and weather resistant field guide included. Participants must be at least 14 years of age and have current CPR/AED certification.

Get Home Safe
Howling Coyote Outfitters offers the ‘Get Home Safe’ seminar. This seminar teaches people how to significantly increase their odds of surviving short-term emergencies arising from natural disasters, severe weather, car breakdowns, mishaps in the wilderness (getting lost or hurt for example), economic hiccups, or any number of scenarios that remove people from their homeostatic (controlled) environments where there is a working thermostat and plenty to drink and eat. We teach BASIC survival skills that ANYONE can master quickly!

Clay Play for Moms
As a mom, you probably spend most of your time doing things for your family. Now it’s time to do something for yourself! Join us for an evening of fun and creativity as you experience hand building and glazing pottery as well as paint-your-own ceramics. No experience is necessary. Projects will be kiln-fired and returned to Si View Community Center for pick up by May 30th. Workshop fee includes all non-toxic materials and firing. Remember to dress for mess!

Watercolor Workshop - (Basic & Advanced Techniques)
This one-day seminar will introduce the student to the basic elements of watercolor and rarely taught advanced techniques that separate the mundane from the spectacular. Handouts will be provided, including a reading list for further study. The seminar will be broken into two sections. The first session will present an introduction to watercolor painting and basic technique. The second session will provide the student with tools to take his paintings from” Nice Watercolor.” to “WOW!”

Photography Made Easy “Basic Class”
This is a 3 hour session, dedicated to helping you become a better photographer with YOUR (DSLR), digital camera. You’ll receive a simple to understand explanation that will help you to enjoy your camera and capture admired photos. We’ll adjust your camera to take optimal photos on the automatic as well as creative mode choices. I’ll teach you why choosing the right settings will improve your photos and teach you how to be more creative. We’ll take photos and discuss how to improve Framing, Focusing, and Lighting options and methods to create wonderful looking photos that will surely impress your friends and family. Workshops will be held at SnapShotSandy’s office/studio in North Bend or at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery in Issaquah.
